Zachary Lance "Zack" Wallis, 59 of Cave Springs, died Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale.  He was born January 14, 1964, at Great Lakes Naval Hospital in Illinois to Jerry Leroy and Valera Aileen "Val" (Zachary) Wallis.

Zack enlisted in the Navy following high school and was sworn in by his father, also a Navy veteran.  During his service he was an avionics technician aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ranger.  Zack was a member of the American Legion Post 274 in Cave Springs.  He was a master mechanic and for a period worked for Cummins Diesel.  Zack could repair almost anything and was always willing to fix vehicles for family and friends. Over the past 30 years Zack trucked freight for FedEx.

On February 13, 1993, he married Susan Alisa Mason in Oklahoma City.  He enjoyed time in the outdoors, especially fishing and four wheeling. He loved telling jokes and acting goofy, even in his final days of illness. Above all, Zack was devoted to his family and a faithful member of the Church of Christ and a preacher of the gospel.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan, in 2021, and his father, Jerry, in 2016.  He is survived by two daughters, Hattie Garcia and her husband Miguel, Catherine Holland and her husband Jesse; mother, Val Wallis of Lowell; one sister, LaDawna Sperber of Springdale; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other dear family members and friends.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2023, at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Bluff Cemetery with military honors.  Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
