Obituary

Thomas Eugene  Maze, 82 of Springdale, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at Circle of Life Hospice. He was born May 1, 1939, in Montreal, Missouri to Lonnie Thomas and Esther Mae (Todd) Maze. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers William Maze and Waine Maze. He is survived by his wife, June Maze, of the home; two sons, David Maze and wife Patricia of Springdale and Thomas Maze of Huntsville; one daughter, Susan Stewart and husband Bobby of Springdale; five grandchildren, Robert Maze, Chevetta Maze and Scott Maze all of Springdale, Lonnie Stewart and wife Felice of Lowell, and Maggie Hoskins and husband Nathan of RAF Alconbury, England; and 10 great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Colby and Dixie Maze, Gunner Lewis, Axil Maze and Roman Guzman, Kaiden and Rose Stewart, Tyson and Porter Hoskins. He is also survived by three sisters, Bonnie Bailey of Linn Missouri, Ruth Harp of Tulsa, Mildred Shepherd of Clifty; one brother, Ralph Maze of Fayetteville; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Eugene was devoted to his family. He enjoyed having cookouts so he could spend time with family or friends.  He was an avid black coffee drinker, enjoyed watching T.V. and napping in his recliner. If one of his grandchildren or great-grandchildren was playing a sport, you could bet if he had a way to get to the baseball field, soccer field or bowling alley, he would be there cheering the loudest for them. He also loved telling stories to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was always going around singing. Eugene volunteered for many years at Parson Hills Elementary School. He was awarded the Community Service Award by the Office of the Governor, KARK-TV Channel 4 of Little Rock and the Arkansas Department of Human Services Division of Volunteerism in 2002.

A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 28, at Clifty Free Will Baptist Church .  Interment with military honors will follow at Clifty Cemetery .  Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
