Obituary

Shirley Mae Boyer, age 99, passed away peacefully at her Springdale home on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. She was born near Detroit to the late Gertrude Mae (Hands) and Albert E. Nash. She and her beloved husband, "Bill", raised their family in Grosse Ile, Michigan. Shirley was a creative and fun-loving mother and homemaker. She served as a Girl Scout leader and Sunday School teacher. The couple enjoyed flying, boating and touring together in their motor home. They lived two years in Australia before retiring in New Port Richey and Brooksville, Florida, and Traverse City, Michigan. Following the death of her husband William "Bill" Boyer, Jr., she moved to Arkansas. Shirley had a life-long love for dogs and all animals. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Lyn Boyer, and her brother, Albert E. Nash, Jr.

Shirley is survived by her son, Gary P. Boyer of Flagstaff, Arizonia; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy J. Boyer-Rechlin and Michael A. Rechlin of Franklin, West Virginia: grandchildren Bethany Boyer-Rechlin (husband, Jorge Bouchot de Viveros), Nathan Boyer-Rechlin, and Amanda Kiessel (husband Ben); great grandson, Sam Kiessel; two nephews.

Memorials can be made to a charity which supports Native American education or animal welfare.
