Samuel Basil "Sam" Walter, Jr., 80, of Springdale, died Thursday, June 27, 2019 at his home. He was born June 21, 1939 in Grove City, Pennsylvania to Samuel Basil, Sr. and Mary Lucille (Eakin) Walter.

Sam served in the Navy aboard an aircraft carrier and was an electrical engineer. He especially enjoyed his tour on the Mediterranean Sea. Sam traveled the world extensively as an equipment engineer with the poultry industry, and could repair just about anything. Above all he was devoted to his daughters.

He is survived by his wife, Sally (Holder) Walter; six daughters, Terrie Johnson of Shawnee, Kansas, Sandra Bowers and husband Joe Deleo of Andrews, Indiana, Laura Vachon and husband Rick of Yoder, Indiana, LaDonna Shub and husband Dan of Bentonville, Lesa Rohrer and husband Steve of Yukon, Oklahoma, Laurie Williams and husband Michael Batt of New Orleans, Louisiana; 12 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Sam was preceded in death by a daughter, Dianna Lorrayne Walter.

A service at Fayetteville National Cemetery is planned and will be announced.
