Roy Joseph Franco, age 88, of Tontitown, died Wednesday, January 5, 2022. He was born November 10, 1933, in Elm Springs to John and Theresa (Zulpo) Franco, the youngest of eight children. Roy attended school in Tontitown where he was a lifelong resident and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. As a young man he served in the Army, farmed throughout his life, and retired from Heekin (Ball) Canning Company. He served as president of St. Joseph Men's Society, served on the cemetery board, Grape Festival committee, and was a Catholic Youth advisor.
Roy is survived by his wife, Jettie Marie (Marveggio) Franco, whom he married November 4, 1954; one son, Jeff Franco and wife Kay of Springdale; three grandchildren, Justin White and wife Heejung of Hawaii, Cecely Clinkscales and husband Matt of Springdale, Caroline Ceola and husband Blake of Tontitown; and six great-grandchildren, Kayla, Dominic, Asher, Olivia, Christian and Bella. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Camilla "Cammie" White, 2 brothers, and five sisters.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10a.m. Tuesday, January 11, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with interment at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5p.m. followed by a Rosary at 6p.m. Monday at the church. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Father Francis Janesko Scholarship Fund at St. Joseph Catholic Church, P.O. Box 39, Tontitown, AR 72770, or a charity of choice.
