Ronald Allen Johnston, Sr. "Ron", age 87 passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025 at his residence in Goodman, Missouri. He was born on July 14, 1938 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to the late Leroy Miles Johnston and Vivan Ines (Kelsay) Johnston. As a man of faith, he was a Deacon and a member of Splitlog Baptist Church in Goodman, Missouri for several years before partnering with others to establish a new church in Fairview, Missouri called In Christ Alone. While at Splitlog he started the Tuesday morning Men's Prayer Breakfast. He was also a founding supporter for the Renewal 12:2 Ministries in Anderson, Missouri. He went on mission with the Bella Vista Baptist Church in Bella Vista, Arkansas to Guatemala in 2016.
Ron was a traveling salesman most of his life. After moving to Bella Vista, he branched out into residential real estate, owning and managing several properties in three states. He loved to travel and enjoyed cruises to Hawaii, the Caribbean, Alaska, and New Zealand. He volunteered for several years for the Legends of Golf tournaments sponsoring the College of the Ozarks. He also organized the family's craft business and traveled out of state for shows. Later he moved to Goodman, Missouri to enjoy farm life and was a beekeeper. Ron was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Johnston.
Ron is survived by his wife, Johnese Johnston; five children, Jan Jermain and her husband, Clark of Edmond, Oklahoma, Ronald Allen Johnston, Jr. and his wife, Nanette of Bradenton, Florida, Cheryl Kovach and her husband, George of Jenners, Pennsylvania, Theresa Lynne King and her husband, Robert of Centerton, Arkansas and Lisa Gayle Petty of Goodman, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Michelle Seybolt, Ronald Allen Johnston III "Trey", Brittany Hiatt, Mikeal Kasten, Charity Reginelli, Joshua Johnston, Sarah Wright, Franci Mosier; seventeen great grandchildren; brother, Robert Leroy Johnston and his wife, Sandy of Pearland, Texas; sister, Carolyn Tunstill and her husband, David of Bella Vista, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel in Springdale, Arkansas. Visitation will begin prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Come As You Are, the Christian recovery program at Splitlog Baptist Church, 3670 Splitlog Road, Goodman, MO 64836. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home.
