Obituary

Norman Lynn Traxler, 70 of Elkins, died Thursday, June 9, 2022 at his home.  He was born November 22, 1951 in Lowell to Azel Ronald and Ellen Gwendolyn (Pickett) Traxler.  Norman was a gun collector and enthusiast and enjoyed target shooting.  He also enjoyed scuba and sky diving, and traveling.  As a younger man he worked in construction around the area and then in maintenance for Shipley Bread.  In later years he worked for Jim Burton with Burton Cemetery Service.  Norman purchased the company and operated it from 1999 until he retired in 2014.  He was an active member of Sulphur City Baptist Church where he was the adult Sunday school teacher.

He is survived by his wife, Rachel Traxler; two children, Tim Traxler and wife Gini, Sarah Grubbs; one brother, Varlen Traxler; four grandsons, Mitchell Traxler, Andrew Traxler, Caleb Grubbs, Adrian Traxler; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill Traxler, Steve Traxler, Richard Sterling; three sisters, Ruby Foutz, Gladys Kramer, Betty Oakley; and his son-in-law, Alan Grubbs.

A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 13, at Elm Springs Cemetery with Pastor Dallas Auslam officiating.  Memorial contributions may be made to Gideon's International .
