Michael "Mike)" Calvin Rickey, 56, of Bentonville, AR, died Friday morning, June 25, 2021, as the result of a cardiac event. He was born May 11, 1965, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to Ronald L. and Linda Scott Rickey. He was raised by his mother and stepfather, Herman G. Harrell, of Prairie Grove, AR.
Mike was a proud Army veteran who served his country as a Light-Wheel Vehicle Mechanic and Heavy Vehicle Recovery Specialist during Operation Desert Storm. He was attached to 2 ND Brigade, 6 TH Infantry Division (Light) – Fort Wainwright, AK. His military honors include Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Mechanic Badge, and Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged from service on August 1, 1991. In the private sector, Mike served his community by working for Central EMS as a mechanic.
Survivors include his wife, Sonja Rickey, of Bentonville, whom he married on October 27, 1987; his only child, Michael "Ryan" Rickey of Bentonville; his beloved mother, Linda A. Harrell, of Prairie Grove; his brother, Scott Shaw, of Zanesville, OH; his sister, Teresa Rickey, of Florida; his brother, Larry Cozad (Laura), of Kingston, OH; his nephews, Joe Rickey (Rachael) of Idaho Falls, ID, and George Rickey, of Prairie Grove; his sister-in-law, Debi Rickey, of Prairie Grove; two aunts, Judy Bilinski, of Michigan and Loraine Browning, of Ohio; two great-nieces, one great-nephew, two nephews, one niece, several cousins, and many special friends, significantly Noah Darnall, of Bentonville, and Dave Webster (Cindy), of Bentonville.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Joseph (Joe) Rickey; his father, Ronald L. Rickey; two stepfathers, Herman G. Harrell, of Prairie Grove and James W. McCool, of Prairie Grove; his maternal grandparents, Virginia and George Scott; his paternal grandparents, Martha and Joe Rickey; and one aunt, Sue Shaw.
Inurnment will be at Fayetteville National Cemetery. A memorial service will be at a later date.
