Mattie Carol Cowan, age 70 passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025 in Springdale, Arkansas. She was born on February 7, 1955 in Pampa, Texas to the late Lonnie and Leona (Belt) Cowan. Following her graduation from Springdale High School, Mattie honorably served her country in the United States Army. She was an accomplished artist, demonstrating talent in mediums such as wood carving, sewing, and painting.

Mattie is survived by son, James Joshua Beistly of Colorado; brother, Virgil Cowan and his wife, Robin of Tennessee; sister, Betty Traxler of Fayetteville, Arkansas; granddaughter, Katherine Beistly of Colorado.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home in Springdale, Arkansas.
