IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margaret Ann
Vandever
July 8, 1938 – January 24, 2025
Margaret Ann Vandever, age 86, of Springdale, Arkansas, passed away on January 24, 2025, at her home. She was born on July 8, 1938, in Mineral Springs, Arkansas, to the late Joe and Leola (Nutt) Clements.
Margaret, also known as Mom, Nana, Sister in Christ, and friend, grew up near Taylor, AR., where she graduated from the Taylor High School in 1957. In spite of difficult circumstances, Margaret worked hard as a waitress in restaurants around Texarkana, eventually meeting and marrying the love of her life, Felton Vandever. Once they raised her children, she fulfilled a dream, becoming an LPN, and worked in a nursing home in Nashville, AR. for a few years. She then became a case worker for the Department of Human Services in Murfreesboro, AR.. From all accounts, she touched many people during that time, with a caring heart, and deep sense of mercy for people otherwise deemed unimportant to most. After retirement, she worked for the Chamber of Commerce in Murfreesboro for a few years. However, her greatest act came in her later years, when Felton and she received Jesus Christ as their Savior. She was a faithful member of College Avenue Baptist in Fayetteville, as well as Old Missouri Road Baptist in Springdale. For the past few years, she was a member of Springdale Missionary Baptist Church, often commenting on how she enjoyed the fellowship there. Her family enjoys the memories of photographs, letters, and her Bibles.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Felton Vandever, and one great-grandchild, Remington Ray.
She is survived by two sons, David Dodson and his wife Della of Gentry, Arkansas, and Danny Dodson of Malvern, Arkansas; one daughter, Debbi Hicks and her husband Jim of Glenwood, Arkansas; one brother, Charlie Clements and his wife Toni of Carthage, Texas; one sister, Joey Finley of Benton, Arkansas; seven grandchildren: Tarsy, Tina, Caleb, Shelby, Hunter, Destiney, and Kaylee; nineteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family.
Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, January 27, 2025, at Heritage Funeral Home of Springdale, Arkansas. Flowers are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
