Larry Daniel Poage passed away August 10, 2026, at his residence in Springdale, Arkansas, at the age of 81. Larry was born April 5, 1945, in Amarillo, Texas to John Poage and Leona Poage (Yocum). Larry would call Northwest Arkansas home for most of his life.

Larry graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1964. Shortly after, Larry would join the National Guard where he would be stationed in Leesville, LA. After his time in the National Guard, Larry would join the Fayetteville Fire Department. He worked his way up from a fireman to become the first Fire Marshall in the Northwest Arkansas area. Larry would retire from his career with the fire department after 21 years. Larry would transition to working at Ozark Guidance Center where he took on the role of Safety and Security Maintenance.

Larry married Valerie Poage (Wise) on April 3, 1984. They would be married for 41 wonderful years. Together they would travel together with their 5th wheel camper, wintering in Ft. Meyers, Florida. Larry was an avid, lifelong, yard sale and flea market fanatic. Larry’s passion for his hobbies came from his mother, who was passionate about antiquing. Larry would also set up booths to sell things in Springdale, Berryville, and Joplin for others to admire and purchase his treasures.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Melvin Poage. Larry is survived by his wife, Valerie Poage (Wise); three children, Lori Judd of Oklahoma, Steven Poage of Lowell, Arkansas, and Michael Edward Poage of Jacksonville, Florida; three step-children, Steven Dale Couch of Cincinnati, Ohio, Melissa Jean Couch of Lincoln, Arkansas, and Michael Ray Couch of Topeka, Kansas; one sister, Doris Mahaffey of Hot Springs, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Madison Poage, Steven Michael Couch, James Randal Couch, John David Couch, Wyatt Couch, Kendra Davila, and Lara Andersen, and multiple nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Larry will be Monday, August 17, 2026, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Springdale, Arkansas. Larry will be inurned at Fairview Memorial Gardens.
