Julia M. Crawford, 81, of Springdale, Arkansas, passed away on October 17, 2026, at Circle of Life in Springdale. Born January 6, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Antone Wigman and Julia (Kelly) Wigman, she grew up in the Detroit area. She married Dennis Crawford in 1966 in Detroit. The couple moved to the Springdale area in August 1987.
Julia was a longtime member of St. Raphael Catholic Church in Springdale, where she and Dennis proudly served as Eucharistic Ministers. She was also active in the Women’s Club of St. Raphael. She retired from the University of Arkansas after more than 20 years in Admissions at the University of Arkansas, having earned tenure.
She was known for her supportive and empathetic nature, always going out of her way to help others. Julia loved Scottie dogs, the color blue, flowers, Scottish music, and anything Irish. She was a collector of bells and Delft, a storyteller, and her laugh was especially cherished by her family. She stood 5'1 ½” and brought a mighty spirit to those around her.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Dennis Crawford of Springdale; her children Chris Hall and James of Bunker Hill, Indiana; Denise Schachle and Joe of Elkins, Arkansas; Dennis Crawford and Kristin of Bella Vista, Arkansas; and Michael Crawford and Nicole of Lowell, Arkansas; grandchildren Josh, Will, Jonathan, Samantha, David, Faith, Caleb, Brenden, and Jackson; and great-grandchildren Elijah, Kingsley, Aurora, and Xavier. She is also survived by siblings Dennis, John, Antone, Mary, and Helen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Peter, Lucy, Anne Marie, and Frank; and one great-grandchild, Oakley. A visitation will take place October 22, 2026 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, with a rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be Friday, October 23, 2026, 10:00 a.m., at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Springdale, Arkansas with Father Quienton Thomas as celebrant. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to St. Raphael Catholic Church.
