Obituary

Joe McClernon, age 90, passed away May 24, 2025 peacefully while in hospice care at Willard Walker Hospice in Fayetteville. He was born on June 19, 1934 in Springfield, Missouri to the late Dr. P.W. and Harriet (Jones) McClernon. "Joe Mc"-yes, "Mc" as in "mac" but not "Joe Mac"-loved his BBQ but loved his children and family so much more. He was proud of his business successes but prouder of his service to his country during the Korean War on the USS Yorktown C-V10. It is easy to say, "To know him was to love him," but for those who knew Joe Mc it was absolutely true.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 45 years, Jean Campbell; sons, Keith McClernon and Joey McClernon; grandson, Chad; sister, Pat Petersen; brothers, Jim and Billy;

He is survived by son, Ken (Tammy) McClernon of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; daughters, Nancy (Eddie) Guinn of Springdale, Cathie (Rob) Muschany of St. Louis, Missouri, Jody (Donnie) Manichia of Houston, Missy Psencik of Houston; siblings, Tom (Janice) McClernon, Jane West, and Barbara Schneider; a host of grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Peaceful Valley Bible Church, 2203 S. 40th Street Springdale, Arkansas 72762, or the American Legion Post #27, 1195 S. Curtis Ave., Fayetteville, Arkansas 72701.
