John Edward Havely, 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday May 15, 2023 in Lowell, Arkansas. He was born in Maude, Oklahoma on January 3, 1933 to the late Henry and Hilda (Kooyers) Havely. John graduated from Barnsdall (Oklahoma) High School in 1951. He married his high school sweetheart, Carol on December 20, 1952. They shared 70 wonderful years of marriage. After graduating from Oklahoma State University, he served 18 months in Korea for the United States Army. John then worked for Phillips Petroleum in Bartlesville, OK and eventually retired from Gott Corporation where he served as Executive Vice President, obtaining numerous patents for his work and developments. After retirement, he enjoyed working outdoors caring for his land and hand making beautiful wood furniture. He enjoyed traveling the country and was devoted to his family. Spending time with his great- granddaughter, Lilliana was one of his greatest joys. He was deeply loved by many and will forever be missed.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, Fred and George Havely. He is survived by his wife, Carol (Anthony) Havely; two daughters, Laura Diane Havely of Joplin, Missouri, Susan Havely of Seneca, Missouri; one granddaughter, Andrea and husband Colby Leonard of Lowell, Arkansas; two great granddaughters, Bailey and Lilliana Leonard; one sister-in-law, Norma Havely and one nephew, Pete (Linda) Havely and family of Carthage, Missouri.
