Joel G. Peterman, born on January 22, 1954, in Alma, Arkansas, passed away on July 27, 2026, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Joel spent most of his life living in the Northwest Arkansas area.

Joel would meet and marry the love of his life, Vickie Lee Peterman.

Joel was a high school graduate. His professional life would be a career in law enforcement spanned more than two decades, during which he served as a Deputy Sheriff at both the Sebastian County Sheriff Department and the Washington County Sheriff Department. Later in his career, he would take on the duty of an Intake Officer at the Washington County Jail. Joel and his family were proud of his time served in Law Enforcement and to his community.

Joel was an avid woodworker. Friends and family remember him as a connoisseur of good food. His natural inclination to be “always tinkering with something” reflected not only his practical abilities but also his lifelong desire to learn, fix, and improve whatever he encountered.

He is survived by one son, Mike Peterman, and daughter-in-law, Paula Peterman of Lincoln, Arkansas; two daughters, Catherine Zaman and her husband, Abassi Zaman, of Springdale, Arkansas, Carmen Taylor and her husband, Cecil Taylor; two sisters, Ruthie Helen and Joyce Peterman; grandchildren—Jarred Peterman, Jacinda Peterman, Abigail Fuchs, Hayden Peterman, Madisyn Taylor, and Austin Taylor—and his great-grandchildren—Tyler Peterman, Jaxson Peterman, Ezekiel Taylor, Luca Taylor, and Hudson Taylor.

Joel is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vickie Lee Peterman; his brother, Tommy Peterman; his parents, Leslie and Wanda Peterman. Their memories continue to be treasured by those who knew and loved Joel.  Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home (479)751-2444.
