Jim Mei Lee, age 85, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 28, 2023, in Springdale, Arkansas. He was born on May 18, 1937, in Canton, China (now called Guangzhou, China) to Sing Job and Yet Fan (Chew) Lee. He was proceeded in death by both parents, 6 brothers and 1 sister. He is survived by his wife Fay Jan Jeu Lee; two sons, Alan and his wife Amy Lee of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Ronnie and wife Maggie Lee of Fayetteville, Arkansas; two daughters, Angela Lee of Atkins, Arkansas, Alice Lee of Los Angeles, California; brother Yee Kow and wife Sylvia Lee of Enid, Oklahoma; a sister, Joanne (Ying Seem) Li of Bejing, China; four grandsons, Christopher Wong, Benjamin Lee, Michael Lee, Austen Lee; two granddaughters, Lauren Wong and Ava Lee; one great grandson, Ezra Lee, and a host of extended family.
Jim Mei Lee was the epitome of the American dream. Born in Canton, China, he came to America fleeing communist tyranny in 1955 at the age of 17. He became a United States citizen at the age of 20 on Oct 17, 1957. He was a successful businessman, owning two establishments. One was Lee's Grocery Store in Augusta, Arkansas for 10 years (1966-1976) and the other was Landis Steakhouse in Searcy, Arkansas for over 23 years (1976-1999). His dream was to give his wife and four children a better life and he did just that. He taught his children that hard work always pays off and he led by example. He worked an average of 111 hours a week sacrificing for his family. He also taught his children the golden rule Matthew 7:12, "Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you." He accomplished a lot of things the world would say are improbable, but the most important thing he ever did was accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and savior in 2005. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed. We will see him again in heaven one day.
