Obituary

Jim Davis, a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, December 28, 2025, in Rogers, Arkansas at 90 years of age. Paul James Davis was born on June 12, 1935, in Claremore, Oklahoma to Paul and Alice (Barrow) Davis. Jim learned the meaning of hard work at an early age. As a young boy, he worked on the farm, rising before dawn each morning to milk cows before school. It was also as a child that he developed a passion for hunting and the outdoors. When Jim was 16, he met his future wife, Darla Graves, at a 4th of July celebration near the "swinging bridge" and they began a courtship that led to sixty-six years of marriage. After high school, Jim enlisted in the United States Air Force where he worked as a machine gun mechanic on bomber aircraft. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal before receiving an honorable discharge at the rank of Staff Sergeant. With his military service complete, Jim took classes at the Oklahoma Military Academy in Claremore before accepting a position with defense contractor Martin Marietta installing ICBM launch silos in multiple states. This experience provided an opportunity for Jim to move his family to Titusville, Florida where he worked as a quality control inspector in support of NASA's Gemini and Apollo missions. After a brief stint in New Jersey, Jim moved his family back home to Claremore and began working in the electrical supply business as a warehouse manager. With their children grown, Jim and Darla then moved to Northwest Arkansas where he found success as a salesman, eventually opening his own electrical supply business in Tontitown which he retired from in 2019. Second only to his love of family was Jim's love of adventure. He was always up for a trip and especially loved visiting the lakes and woods of Northwest Ontario, Canada. In the 1980s he bought a motorhome and began taking multiple trips each year to enjoy fishing in the spring and grouse hunting in the fall, taking with him his son, friends, customers, and eventually his grandsons who proudly carry on the tradition today. Jim made his final trip in 2024.

Jim is survived by his son: Jimmy Davis, Jr. (and wife Miriam) of Tontitown; sister: Orleen Piguet (and husband Stan) of Claremore; grandsons: Casey Bradford (and wife Vilay) of Cave Springs, and Jeffrey Davis (and wife Cara) of Prairie Grove; granddaughter, Jennifer Shy (and husband Matt) of Bentonville; son-in-law, Jim Bradford (and wife Debbie) of Tontitown; sister-in-law, David Ann Ward of Claremore; great-grandchildren: Scarlett, Levi, and Curtis Mills of Bentonville; Brooks and Coleman Shy of Bentonville; Case, Opal, and Hazel Davis of Prairie Grove; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife: Darla Davis; daughter: Cindy Bradford; father, Paul Davis; mother, Alice McCormack; and sisters: Wanda Cottom and Doris McCombs.

A private graveside service will be held in Claremore, Oklahoma to celebrate the lives of Jim and Darla. Memorial donations may be made in his honor to the Schmieding Center for Senior Health and Education (2422 N. Thompson St. Springdale, AR 72764 (479) 751-3043).
