Jasper Otis “Jack” Richardson Jr., age 83 of Fayetteville, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2026, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was born October 29, 1942, in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Jasper Otis and Eva Brewer Richardson. On June 9, 1963, he married Brenda Westfall in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Jack graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1965 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. While attending the University, he was a member of the Theta Tau Engineering Fraternity, Sigma Pi Fraternity, and the Razorback marching band in which he played the saxophone.

Jack worked for the Reynolds Metals Aluminum Company in Hot Springs, Arkansas; Troutdale, Oregon; and McCook, Illinois. He retired in 1999 after 32 years of service.  Jack was instrumental in building and designing the National Park Church of Christ building in Hot Springs. In 2009, Jack and Brenda moved to Fayetteville where they were faithful members of the Mount Comfort Church of Christ. He held several offices within the church in various places that included serving as Treasurer, Deacon and Elder in Hot Springs and in Naperville, Illinois.

Jack was always active playing golf, swimming, and biking. While living in Oregon, Jack, Brenda, and their daughter K.K. hiked and camped all over the Pacific Northwest.  After moving back to Hot Springs, he bought a ten-speed bike and could be seen on any given Saturday biking around town just as he had done as a kid. Jack enjoyed hiking Hot Springs Mountain many times with his second daughter Joy. While living in the Chicago area, he played in and won several golf tournaments.

After retiring from Reynolds Metals, Jack returned to his hometown of Hot Springs. He enjoyed outings at Lake Hamilton with Brenda on their pontoon boat. They would boat many evenings and bring a picnic in the summer months. His grandsons, Wyatt and Ethan, would visit in the summers, and they would spend all day on the boat or at Play by Play with their Papaw. 

Jack dreamed of building a house in Fayetteville so that he could live closer to his daughters and all five of his grandchildren. Jack designed a house on a golf course in Fayetteville. He and Brenda made that house their home in 2009. After moving to Fayetteville, Jack spent countless hours with his younger grandsons, Fender, Knox, and Gideon. He bought a Razorback red Chevy Avalanche extended cab so that he could “haul the boys” to all their baseball and soccer games that he enjoyed greatly.

Jack is survived by his wife of 63 years, Brenda Richardson of Fayetteville, two daughters, Karen Kaye Benjamin and her husband, Chris of Fort Smith, Joy Danelle Carroll and her husband, Larry of Fayetteville; five grandchildren, Wyatt (Teighlor) Benjamin of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Ethan Benjamin of Searcy, Arkansas, Fender Carroll, Gideon Carroll, Knox Carroll, all of Fayetteville; a sister, Judi Sanders of Hot Springs, Arkansas; a niece, Stephanie Riffle of Rogers, Arkansas: and a nephew, Shaun Sanders of Hot Springs.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the Mount Comfort Church of Christ with Chris Benjamin officiating. The interment will follow at Mount Comfort Cemetery in Fayetteville. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Heritage Funeral Home of Springdale. Pallbearers will be Wyatt Benjamin, Ethan Benjamin, Fender Carroll, Gideon Carroll, Knox Carroll, and Ben Sherer. Honorary pallbearers will be Philip Meinert, Charles Jackson, Gerald Benjamin, Charles Berger, Jerome Yates and Larry Carroll. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home of Springdale.
