Obituary

Houstine Edna Cooper passed away peacefully on August 8, 2024 in Springdale. She was born January 11, 1926, in Hugo, Oklahoma to Sherman and Ruby (Holton) Bean. Houstine was an accomplished writer and poet. She wrote many poems as well as several books. Her books included a children's book, as well as an epistolary memoir, and a book based on her mother's early life. She also was a proud member of the First Presbyterian Church of Springdale. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Raymond, and her son Steven.

She is survived by her son Charles (Jayme) of Scotts Valley, California, daughter Terry Lee of Springdale, granddaughters Shanna, Julia, and Caitlin, three great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, August 16, 2024 at First Presbyterian Church of Springdale, Arkansas with Rev. Susan Arnold Officiating. Private family burial to follow. Monetary donations or floral tributes to the charity of your choice.
