Geneveve Johnston passed away August 10. 2026 at her residence in Colcord, Oklahoma, at the age of 99. Geneveve was born August 16, 1926, to Meek Henry Johnson and Myrtle Johnson (George).
Geneveve met her husband, Reverend and Pastor Loyd M. Johnston. Their story began on a horse named “Ol’ Tony” and would lead to more than 50 years together. Geneveve and Loyd started their family, and she would make her home and family her career. Geneveve would have her hands full raising kids, Dale being most of the workload. They would spend a short time in California before moving back to Route 1 in Gentry, Arkansas. They would begin buying farms and cattle farming. Being the pastor’s wife was one of the most cherished roles of her life.
Geneveve loved her large gardens they would maintain and was a fantastic pie maker. She was a present mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who played a large role in raising the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nearly 100 years old, her legacy of faith left behind in her wonderful family is something that will pass for generations.
Geneveve was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Loyd M. Johnston; her parents, Meek and Myrtle Johnson; two sisters, Bernice Johnston and Jeanie Burford; and one grandchild, Luke Johnston.
Geneveve is survived by her two children, Joyce Faye Insco and husband Keith of Colcord, OK and Dale L. Johnston and wife Darlene of Springdale, AR; one sister, Unalea Colville of Springdale, AR; two brothers, Floyd Johnson and Sonny Johnson of Cove, Oregon; four grandchildren, Karla Jech, Katina Fredrick, Kammie Funk, and Kevin Johnston; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
