Obituary

Geneva Mae Miller, age 88 of Springdale, Arkansas passed away Monday, March 2, 2026 in Rogers, Arkansas. She was born October 10, 1937 in Batavia, Arkansas to the late Robert Howell Fields and Gladys Smith. She was a longtime member of Cross Church in Springdale, Arkansas. Geneva was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Edward “Jake” Miller and son-in-law, Dr. Farrell Ard; four siblings, Barbara McGarrah, Jim Wright, Leona Wright and Loretta Bohannon.

Geneva was born into modest means and made a better life for herself and her family through hard work, dignity, and good sense. She met Jake after he came home from Korea. They married in 1959 and grew a business together. She ran parts for Jake’s Auto Repair with her kids in the back of their paneled station wagon, usually with her hair done and lipstick and jewelry on. She made extra money caring for friends’ children during the week.

Geneva spent her life taking care of and loving children. First, as the oldest of seven, then as the mother of three, a Sunday morning volunteer in the church nursery for many years, a preschool teacher at First Baptist Church Kindercare for 26 years, and finally as a doting grandma.

As a girl, Geneva did farm chores before walking to school and shared shoes with siblings, but, as a mom, she saw to it that her girls had what she wished she’d had growing up: piano lessons, good skin care, nice back-to-school clothes, fancy purses, and great public schools. She understood value and could stretch a dollar, always finding ways to try to spoil her grandchildren.

Geneva loved well. She made dear friends and kept them all her life. She was good at staying in touch with friends and family with regular phone calls. Geneva loved the ladies at bible study, the friends she met for weekly coffee, and friends she saw at hair and nail appointments. She was a good cook and loved large family gatherings and laughed the most when her brothers and sisters would get together and tell stories on each other and pull pranks.

Geneva is survived by three daughters, Kellie Ard of Odessa, Texas, Kim Miller of Austin, Texas and Kay Marie Miller of Springdale, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Chelsee Weber (Buddy), Blake Ard, Anthony Ard, Dayne Ard, Dylan Ard (Kylee), Grant Drummond and Davis Grey Drummond; two great grandchildren, Brielle and Addie Rose Ard; two siblings, Clara Staggs and Danny Ralph Wright and his wife, Sheila; all the nieces and nephews who knew their Aunt Neva loved them very much.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Cross Church in Springdale with Dr. Ryan Blackwell officiating. Interment will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Springdale. Pallbearers will be Dayne Ard, Dylan Ard, Grant Drummond, John Bradley, Sean Staggs and Daniel Wright. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2026 at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel in Springdale, Arkansas.
