Obituary

Felice Lee Barrett, age 78 of Tontitown, passed away on Monday evening, October 20, 2025, surrounded by her family.    She was born July 3, 1947 in Helena, AR to Betty Scission and Carl Huber.  After receiving a degree in education (BSE) from the University of Central Arkansas, Felice took a teaching position at Robert Louis Stevenson Elementary in Merritt Island, FL.  There she met Gerald Barrett and two lives became one.  They married on March 19, 1971 in Cocoa Beach, FL.  The couple lived in Florida, South Carolina and North Carolina before moving to Springdale, AR in 1978.  Throughout their travels, Felice was devoted to her faith.  She spent much of her time volunteering with Vacation Bible School (VBS) and teaching Sunday school.

Felice's passion was teaching children to read, spending 40 years as an educator, with the goal of unlocking a world of adventure for young minds through the power of reading.  The first 13 years of her teaching career were spent in special education, and the last 27 years spent teaching grades 1st and 2nd, but it was 4th grade where she found her sweet spot.

Felice served on the Springdale Library Board, served as President of the Washington County Republican Women, and as a District officer for the Arkansas Federation of Republican Women.  In her church, she volunteered in programs serving those in need, such as the Bread of Life and Helping Hands.  Felice was a member of Christ Church in Fayetteville.  She is preceded in death by her daughter, Elizabeth Hefley; mother, Betty Scission; father, Carl Huber; stepmother, Lila Huber.

Felice is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Gerald Barrett; two daughters, Jennifer Mills and her husband, Scott Mills, and Sarah Barrett all of Springdale; six grandchildren, Madeline Hefley, Lila Mills, Jakob Hefley, Charlotte Mills, Barrett Mills, Briggs Barrett; sister, Mary Gene Tedford and her husband, Tommy of Kansas City, Missouri; brother, Joe Wall of Rogers, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.

There will be a gathering of family and friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m, November 4, 2025 at Christ Church, 4201 N. Shilo Dr., Suite 98, Fayetteville, AR (West end of Northwest Arkansas Mall).  Memorial services will be 3:00 p.m. November 5, 2025 at Christ Church, 4201 N. Shilo Dr., Suite 98, Fayetteville, AR (West end of Northwest Arkansas Mall).  In lieu of flowers, Felice would be honored by a donation to Springdale School District Tree House Pantry, which helps children in need throughout the Springdale School District.
