Obituary

Our beautiful mother, Brenda Kaye England George, passed away peacefully after a bout of recent illnesses. While she had many roles—English teacher, photographer, Bible school teacher, wildflower examiner, artist, swimmer, and more—she will be remembered as a beloved mother and grandmother. Brenda graduated with a bachelor's degree in English and later a Master's in Education, but her talents were endless. From cooking enchiladas, lasagna, chili, brownies, and blackberry cobbler to putting the finishing touches on prom dresses hours before, to her ability to name most any wildflower in Colorado, and on to her patience at decorating intricate sugar cookies at Christmas, our hearts are fuller from the care that she gave.

She had a deep faith in Jesus, which was evident in her positive outlook on life and the love she poured out to her family and friends. She saw beauty all around her, in every detail, and this appreciation was contagious to everyone she met. To this day, it's hard to pass a flower and not marvel at its beauty, remembering her. She was kind, loved to laugh, and cherished the moments spent sitting with family, embracing the blessing of the present.

Born to Benjamin Franklin England and Vesta Lenore (Huckabay), she was the middle of three daughters. Preceded in death by both her parents, younger sister Susan, and granddaughter Natalie, she is survived by her eldest sister Patricia; three children and their spouses: Stephanie (Robert), Jennifer (Brian), and David (Melissa); and grandchildren Emma (Jacob), Cailey, Ethan, Peter, Aidan (Belle), Lana, Daniel, Micah, Anna, and Katherina.

Left with our cat when we flew the nest, she became the original cat mom to Chelsea the one-eyed bandit. Destroying scorpions and wasps in our youth kept her agile enough to run after the invasion of grandchildren. Well-travelled, she exposed each of us to a love of adventure and exploration. Well-read, she passed this trait down to many of her clan, training the grandchildren early in hours of story time, whether at her knee or the local library.

Our hearts heave with the heaviness that we can no longer see the similarity of mannerisms to her own mother, a room light up with her beautiful smile, or be enveloped in arms with a hug that could heal cut fingers, splinters, and broken hearts. Carrying her torch, we will march forward in honor of her legacy.  Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home in Springdale, Arkansas. Donations can be made in her name to St. Jude Children's Reseach Hospital and YMCA of The Rockies .
