Obituary

Barbara Jones age 95 of Springdale died peacefully at home on March 27, 2025 surrounded by her family.

When asked what she was most proud of, Barbara would answer "my children." Yet she had a distinguished acting career that began with radio at age nine and included college, professional, and community productions.

Barbara was born on August 24, 1929 in Syracuse, New York the daughter of Mildred Kime and Donald Ure Eager. She attended the University of New Mexico where she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts and Drama. While in college she met Tom Jones, another native New Yorker. They got married after she graduated. Their three children were all born in New Mexico. They moved to other parts of the United States that included in Nashville, Tennesse, Miami, Florida and Fairhope, Alabama.

In Nashville, Barbara and Tom were founding members of Percy Priest Yacht Club and sailed often. She appeared in numerous productions at Tennessee Performing Arts Center and Circle Theater. For many years, she read the newspaper aloud weekly for The Talking Library.

Barbara was a lifelong lover of music and of reading. In Fairhope, she was a multi-year member of an ongoing music appreciation class and volunteered at Fairhope Public Library and Eastern Shore Art Center. She poured herself into her family and friends. Her daughters consider her the most thoughtful gift-giver they've ever known because of how much she would reflect on the recipient and their situation before deciding on a gift. Barbara's loving and attentive presence would light up the room.

Barbara is survived by her children: Laura Jones (Don Stahl), Wendy Sisson (Jerry) and Celia Dungan; sister, Donna Hallen (Joe Bryan).

A private service will be conducted by the family.
