IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mark Dewayne
George-Hiatt
June 9, 1970 – June 19, 2025
Mark Dewayne George-Hiatt, age 55, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2025 in Springdale, Arkansas. He was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas, on June 9, 1970 to the late Jay and Bertha (Fant) George. Mark was the guy who could light up any room just by walking in — with a quick joke, a big smile, and a knack for making friends wherever he went. Mark lived life on his own terms and with a sense of humor that never quit.
A graduate of Muldrow High School (Class of '88), Mark was many things: a dedicated dad to Quentin, a loving husband to Fred, and a loyal friend who was always "ride or die." If you ever needed a good laugh or someone to show up with a helping hand (or a perfectly detailed car), Mark was your man. His career was as varied and vibrant as his personality. From managing Goodwill stores across Northwest Arkansas to being the go-to assistant manager at Aldi and a transportation specialist at JB Hunt, he took pride in his work and gave it his all. When he wasn't working, you could find him outside tending his yard, landscaping with care, or adding his signature touch to a freshly cleaned car.
He leaves behind a close-knit family that includes his husband, Fred L. George-Hiatt; son, Quentin George; sister, Cathy Magner; sister, Jayan and Danny Gregory; and his supportive in-laws, Leon and Kay Hiatt.
Mark wanted people to celebrate the good times and memories that they had with him during his life. In lieu of funeral services, a celebration of life event will be planned for the near future and communicated to friends and family at a later date. In honor of Mark's generous heart, donations can be made to Circle of Life in Springdale, Arkansas.
Mark's energy, kindness, and infectious humor made the world a brighter place — and that light will never fade.
